AS we once again approach Remembrance Sunday, I am writing to seek the support of the community for this year’s Poppy Appeal.

Last year, the Poppy Appeal again received wonderful support from the public.

Through the generosity of those contributing to the annual collection, as well as to those many thousands who stepped forward to volunteer their time, the Poppy Appeal raised more than £38 million.

The welfare services this year have seen over £1.7 million a week spent on a variety of services.

From helping a young widow through an inquest to ensuring that an older veteran can stay independent in their own home.

In this, the centenary year of the First World War, we are ever mindful of the sacrifices made by our Armed Forces and the demands on our services are as important now as they were then.

The success of the Poppy Appeal relies on the committed support of volunteers and the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal are again running a Poppy People campaign to attract new volunteers.

Anyone over 16 years old can help, by emailing the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal at volunteersupport@ britishlegion.org.uk.

The help that people in Bromsgrove are able to provide will be a major contribution to the success of this year’s appeal.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank them in advance for their continued support, which will be greatly appreciated.
