Well done to Bromsgrove District Council for having the vision, ten years ago, to endow the town with the Arts Centre it so desperately needed. And, for sponsoring and supporting it over the subsequent years.

Artrix has developed into a multi award winning centre and has been named by the Independent newspaper as ‘’ one of the leading small comedy venues in the country ‘’.

Big names have been attracted to the town such as John Bishop, Antonia Fraser, Julian Lloyd Webber, Michael Portillo, Paul Jones and countless others, Artrix also has an Outreach Department which provides a stimulating programme of activities for children, young people and the more disadvantaged.

It has also brought significant economic benefits to the District.

The centre draws people from a wide area and everyone, artists and audiences alike, unfailingly praise the warmth and professionalism of their welcome.

Whether you like films, drama or dance, classical or folk music, comedians or tribute bands – all of these are available to the citizens of Bromsgrove.

I am a member of a team of seventy volunteers who have been assisting the staff over ten years. This team have selflessly donated their time and effort to run the Artrix bar, assist the technical team and with marketing and publicity.

Everyone associated with Artrix has always given 150 per cent to ensure that the centre has achieved the amazing success it is today.

Sadly, the impending cuts to Artrix’ funding will have a significant effect on the centre’s diverse programme that exists at present.

We are extremely proud to have been part of a real Bromsgrove achievement, but a 50 per cent cut to our funding will not be sufficient to support Artrix in maintaining it’s present high quality of entertainment for the town.

I beg the Council to reconsider.
