HAVING read your article about the Chateau Impney Hill Climb in the Advertiser of February 4, I thought I might comment. This whole thing just shows that democracy in this area is dead. Some while ago, before the comments and criticisms deadline, I was told about this by one of my near neighbours, and we both agreed such an event would cause considerable noise pollution.

Fifty years ago, when the event was previously held, there were very few houses between Chateau Impney and the railway line north of Droitwich.

Now there are at least 70 houses in the area, including St Augustine’s Close and St Augustine’s Drive.

There are also large developments bordering the canal at Swan Drive, even a new McCarthy and Stone retirement building.

As far as I can tell, none of the residents of these areas were asked for their feelings on this matter. It was mere chance that my neighbour had heard of the proposals.

We do get noise occasionally from Roman Way, the railway, the A38 and even the M5 in this area, but I feel racing cars are more excessive for a residential area.

Recently it was reported that young boy racers had been causing nuisance noise on the Kidderminster Road next to the Berry Hill industrial estate and been warned off by the police. Now it looks as though rich boy racers are to be given free rein.

A shame that the council didn’t ballot all the local residents for their opinions.
