I HAD the most awful experience while walking my Westie, Edie.

She was viciously attacked over the fields along Perryfields Road by an alsatian and some other type of dog of which I could not identify the breed.

Each afternoon I take Edie a walk over the playing fields through the new estate and over the fields to the new Sidemoor school. I was walking at the top of the top field with Edie off the lead as usual – only over the fields is she off the lead, may I add. I saw this chap with two huge dogs on the bottom field and they also were off their leads.

Within one second of seeing these two dogs they literally charged up and pinned Edie down.

I could do nothing as the Alsatian was so huge with matching jaw and teeth.

The owner of the two dogs did nothing to deter this attack just casually walked his way up calling and whistling the dogs to no avail. He did not attempt to pull his dogs off and while walking away from the scene remarked that my dog was probably not hurt. He walked away just calling his dogs.

Eventually the Alsatian followed him the other dog continued to jump up at me and struggle with Edie. It was absolutely awful. Edie then ran off petrified.

After managing to get her, I could see that she was bleeding so rushed home with her and bathed her to hopefully alleviate any bacteria getting in the wounds then proceeded to the Clent Hills Veterinary Clinic. Edie was scarred on the head and has a puncture in her shoulder, together with shock. The vet initially was going to stitch the wound but then decided it would be better to leave it open with a gel to cover the hole.

Edie ended up having two injections, antibiotics, pain killers, and the healing gel – a total cost of £85, with another visit to the vets on Tuesday night. For a pensioner of 68 this is a very high cost.

I would like to warn the many other dog owners who go this walk and very hopefully shame the owner of these two dogs. I would recognise the dog owner if I saw him again.
