We are frequently hearing on tv and the media about the poor standard of treatment at some care and nursing homes.

I feel I must voice the experience that my husband and I have had over the last few months.

My dear husband was diagnosed with brain cancer in October and spent several weeks at the Alexandra Hospital and then at the Princess of Wales Community Hospital where he received great care and attention.

From both places. when it was decided that he was to go to a care and nursing home, I felt rather unhappy thinking of prior information about care and nursing homes.

However all my concerns and dubious thoughts were allayed very quickly when we went to St John’s care and nursing home in Bromsgrove.I felt very humbled by the love and compassion shown to us by all the staff.

My husband had wonderful treatment both medically and physically. He was shown love and compassion throughout the weeks leading to his death, and yes, I would say love.

He responded to all who cared for him and I in turn will always be grateful for the care shown to me during this traumatic time.

Although I lost my dear husband, I know that everything that could be done, had been done.

Thank you St John’s care and nursing home, how I wish all homes were as caring.
