having just read in a national newspaper that the organiser of the Glastonbury music festival is being fined £3,000 because Bruce Springsteen broke the 12.30am curfew by nine minutes I wonder how much the residents of Droitwich Spa can claim from Droitwich Rugby Club for lack of sleep on Saturday night/Sunday morning, June 27/28.
We were kept awake until after 3am by the loud music and equally loud voice of the DJ.
When I rang the club I was told there had been a wedding reception there and that the club has a 24 hour licence.
My knowledge of the licencing law is limited, but does this mean that this club, if they so wished, could play music 24 hours long?
I do hope this is not the case.
Don’t licence applications have to be published in the local press so that local residents can, if they so wish, object to them.
I look forward to hearing from some one from the rugby club committee via this newspaper as this has not done much for goodwill from the people of the town who are still trying to catch up on their sleep. Name and address supplied
