Grass verges

GRASS verges in Sidemoor are becoming an ever increasing eyesore.

It’s about time the council did away with them.

In my close alone they are worn out, baldingandused toparkonbecause the roads are not wide enough to accommodate vehicles parking in the road because of lorries and buses and obstruction difficulties for emergency vehicles.

The ruts in them alone present a danger to people with eyesight difficulties.

A minority of councillors want them keptbecausetheysaytheyhelpassoakaways, but I disagree. The rain just runs offthembecause they contain a lot of clay compacted by vehicles.

Theyarebadlymaintained,if at all,and thegrass cutting isfewandfarbetween.

Weeds are seen abundantly growing in a lot of roadside gutters, mainly because the grass cuttings are not collected, but just left, some of which gets blown into the roadways.

ImprovementstoSidemoorarefewand far between with paths needing replacement and the street lighting updating.

So to make a start on my estate the council should start by getting rid of these unsightly grassed verges – they simply serve no purpose at all.
