Grass verges

IN regards to the letter about grass verges.

I also live in Sidemoor and have to agree that many of the grass verges are an eyesore. They are the responsibility of Bromsgrove District Housing Trust (BDHT) and are not cut as regularly as they used to be.

Also, many residents drive across them to park in front of their houses so they have now become muddy ruts.

I live in a narrow road near Sidemoor Fish Bar. Not only do residents have to park on the road – as the garages built with the houses belonging to BDHT are rented out independently – but I have been on a waiting list for a garage for five years.

At certain times of the day customers of the chip shop use the road and cause obstruction when parked on both sides of the road making it difficult for emergency vehicles to get through.

Surely replacing the verges with allocated parking for residents would save BDHT money in the long run, as the verges would no longer need to be cut or cared for.

As for the issue with regards concerns with the removal of the soak away, in the case of our road this is not relevant at all as the houses have front gardens.
