There was an interesting networking opportunity preceding the showing of the classic 1985 film My Beautiful Laundrette. Many organisations had put a lot of effort into creating an interesting display in the foyer and upstairs at the Artrix. Display tables were staffed by the West Mercia Police positive action outreach team, Bromsgrove library, the fire service, the Bromsgrove Council diversity team and the Gender Trust, to name but a few, advertising their resources and inclusivity. We did object to the original planning application and also the appeal lodged by Mr M Stowe. We sent our objections, together with those of all our neighbours, regarding smells, parking and the fact that there are already six food outlets in very close proximity to the planned venue, to the planning inspectorate at Bristol. We received no acknowledgment of our objections and were not even told of the decision – we were informed of this when we rang the council having seen the present notice.
