Droitwich 17, Dunlop 5
DROITWICH powered to their fourth consecutive victory in the Midlands Two West (South) with a second-half try blast.
Victory over the visitors allowed Spa to leapfrog them and move up to fourth.
While leaders Old Laurentians have started to open a gap at the top of the table, the Glyn Mitchell Memorial Ground outfit have closed to within four points of second-placed Kenilworth.
They continued there excellent recent form as a determined defensive effort laid foundations to a deserved victory.
The match began with a first-half which saw both teams shared possession but failed to register any points.
After both sides drew a blank in the first-half, it was Droitwich who made in-roads after the break as they upped a gear.
A good team effort brought three tries as Matthew Barnes, Craig Mortlemans and Stu Brooks touched down, while Bobby Scott-Walker added a conversion. Dunlop could only reply with one score.
Spa will be looking to build on their momentum on Saturday when they tackle newly-promoted Shipston-on-Stour away (2.30pm ko).
