Droitwich crash to yet another defeat

Kenilworth 26, Droitwich Spa 3

DROITWICH’S miserable March continued as Spa lost to champions-elect Kenilworth in an enthralling contest.

A third successive defeat means their hopes of a top-three finish suffered a severe dent.

Spa are fourth in Midlands Two West (South), six points behind third placed Kidderminster Carolians having now played the same number of games.

Saturday saw a tough contest between two good sides with the home side coming out on top with a convincing scoreline.

Kenilworth opened the scoring with a penalty but fly-half Sean Walker had levelled with a kick of his own.

But this would be the last score of the game from the visitors.

Spa were undone by penalties and individual errors as the home team’s fly-half scored three more penalties to hand them a 12-3 lead.

Two well constructed tries then extended Kenilworth’s advantage, despite a committed display by Droitwich.

This weekend’s home game against Earlsdon is a must win if Spa are to finish in the top four.
