DROITWICH Dolphins had a busy weekend with round one of the Nuneaton Junior League on Saturday and round two of the PGL Junior league on Sunday.

The team finished runners-up on Saturday after some excellent swims. In the nine-year-old girls, Stella Taylor, Isabella Trow, Jodie Ruane and Kim-Ly Weaver, swimming in their first external gala were particularly good winning both relays.

Trow also won the individual backstroke. There were second places for Ruane in the freestyle, Jess Biddle in the 11-year-old breaststroke, Megan Oswell in the 12s freestyle and the 12s freestyle relay quartet of Oswell, Elena Davison, Jordan West and Cara Taylor.

Not to be outdone, George Grech in the 10s backstroke, and James Clews in the 12s backstroke were victorious.

There were also second-places for Matthew Daniels (nine-year-old breaststroke), Grech in the (10s freestyle), Joshua Bennett (11s backstroke), Frazer Burgess (11s butterfly) and Clews (12s backstroke).

Bennett and Burgess were joined by Jack Scott and Tim Haggitt for runners-up in the 11s freestyle relay. Two seconds and a third in the canons sealed the well deserved second for the Dolphins.

The PGL league gives many swimmers who do not normally compete for the club their first chance at an external competition and the team finished third for the second time.

Wins were achieved by Clews (12s backstroke and butterfly), Sam Ford (10s breaststroke), Rebecca Redfern (13/14 freestyle), the girls 10-year-old medley relay of Elize Smith, Georgia-Kate DuPont, Sophia Chalmers and May Davison.

The girls 13/14 freestyle relay of Anna Cosson, Amy Wood, Sarah McConnell and Redfern also won their event.

Individual second places went to Megan Oswell, Megan Pitts, Clews, Freya Preece, Max Armstrong, McConnell, Charlie Chalmers, William Armstrong and Elena Davison.
