Bromsgrove Sporting 3 Pershore Town 0

SPORTING got back to winning ways as a makeshift squad completed a routine win against previous bogey team Pershore Town.

The hosts started brightly with Jacob Snape shooting just wide after only a minute.

A warning was given to Pershore as Sam Wilkinson rattled the outside of the post with a free kick after five minutes. Sporting then mounted a number of attacks and took the lead on 11 minutes after forcing a series of corners as Mark Bellingham headed home at the near post from the third place kick in succession.

Pershore lost midfielder Aldington a minute later with an injury. He was replaced by Davis.

Referee Simon Burgess made the first of two controversial decisions on 16 minutes as Wilkinson was clattered as he played Bellingham in on goal. The striker looked certain to score but the referee brought the game back for the free kick.

A minute later James Johnson put another header wide from a corner as Sporting continued to dominate but on 24 minutes it was Sporting’s turn to benefit from the referee’s decision making as skipper Luke Darby was adjudged to have fouled Pershore’s Louis Bridges on the edge of the area and escaped with a yellow card despite appearing to deny a goal scoring opportunity.

Sporting continued in the ascendancy but half-time arrived without further incident.

The home side started the second half as sharply as the first and went two goals up on 54 minutes as another Wilkinson free kick rattled the post but this time it was the inside of the woodwork and the ball rested in the net.

A raft of substitutions meant the game became somewhat disjointed and Sporting continued to press without further success until the third minute of injury time as Wilson made inroads down the left and his cross was eventually lashed home by substitute Ricardo Richards.

All in all this was a controlled performance from Sporting evidenced by the fact that keeper Bedford was not required to stop as shot duringthe whole 90 minutes. Even with key players missing Sporting were able to claim the three points with ease.
