Droitwich travelled to Banbury on Saturday desperate for league points, but came away empty handed as they suffered a 48-7 defeat in Midlands Division Two West (South).

The visitors looked bright in the opening stages trying to attack the Banbury line, but gave away possession too readily and their tackling and defensive organisation again let them down as the home side ran in two early tries.

The introduction of Charlie Wilkinson and Matt Jupp helped steady the scrummage, but again the skilful Banbury back line made ground and Droitwich reached half-time 31-0 down.

In the second period, the young side showed some fighting spirit with Tom Wokingham going over for a well worked try, but this was merely a consolation as the game had been decided.

Droitwich entertain fellow strugglers Bedworth (2.15pm ko) next week and anything less than a victory will send them one step closer to relegation.
