HEAD coach Ross Baxter believes Bromsgrove have nine games left to save their campaign, writes Nick Pullen.

Baxter was boosted by the manner in which Bromsgrove despatched National 2 North whipping boys Dudley Kingswinford 41-5 this week and believes that performance will hold them in good stead for the games to come.

He insisted: “It was all about winning the game at Dudley Kingswinford and so important that we got the five points.

“It was equally important that we started the game well and not to give them a sniff of anything, which is what we did and I believe as a result of that, we took the fire out of them very early on.

“We didn’t kick on as much as I would have liked and we could have carried the ball a bit more and our performance in the second half was a bit patchy at times.

“But when you’ve gone nine games without a win, this game was all about getting that win and hopefully this will put some confidence into the side for the games ahead.

“I thought we should have beaten Harrogate the previous week, but now we’ve got this result under our belts, it’s given us the chance to go forward again.”

With three sides going down from the National Two North, Bromsgrove still trail Hull, who are just above the relegation zone, by eight points.

Against DK’s, Aaron Higgins, Dave Hughes (2), Solomon Dacres, George Glenn and Simon Bastock all scored.

Bromsgrove now face mid-table Birmingham and Solihull at home on Saturday (3pm ko).
