BOLEHALL SWIFTS 1, BROMSGROVE SPORTING 3
SPORTING finished their Midland Combination Premier league campaign with a useful if not totally convincing win against Bolehall Swifts.
The Rouslers ended the campaign in second place with 71 points, nine behind champions Brocton.
Swifts started the stronger and took the lead on 11 minutes when Chris Cowley beat the offside-trap.
The home side then contrived to squander three gilt-edged chances that would have put the match beyond Sporting with striker Chris Sturridge-Packer missing two open goals then firing a weak header straight into Jake Bedford’s arms.
Lewis Clarke headed in the leveller in the 38th minute after good work by Brett Mander.
Sporting then took the lead two minutes into added time when Matt Poyner fired an effort over the line following neat play by Clarke and Mark Bellingham.
The third goal came on 81 minutes following a Danny Ludlow corner that nearly went straight in but Poyner punished a poor clearance.
After the match, coach Les Palmer said: “It was a typical end of season match. We were a bit fortunate to be 2-1 up at half-time but we played much better in the second half stopping them from scoring and I thought we deserved the win.”
