BROMSGROVE'S Birmingham and District League Division One clash against Smethwick was abandoned.
After several pitch inspections had taken place, play got underway at 3.30pm.
Smethwick had a reduced 26 overs to set a target and reached an impressive 192-5 and were averaging six runs an over.
Mo Sheikh showed his class with a display of ball striking and touch play with a very quickfire 61 off 44 balls, backed up by Smethwick captain Vickram Jit Sodhi (32 off 33 balls.) Alexei Kervezee, back from Worcestershire duties, was the pick of Bromsgrove’s bowlers (3-35).
The innings was finished off with Shakil Janjua hitting his way to 42 off 30 balls. Smethwick reached a whopping 192-5 of their 26.
Rain again intervened at the close of the Smethwick innings with all the calculations done Bromsgrove would have needed 166 off 16 over.
Bromsgrove entertain Wolverhampton on Saturday (noon start).
