BROMSGROVE Preparatory School Pupil Nicolas Jakobsen won the discus and shot put titles at the IAPS National Championships, where he was also lucky enough to meet double Britian’s Olympic hero Daley Thompson.
Twelve of the leading athletes from Years 7 and 8 at the Old Station Road School took part in this year’s annual championships.
The Alexander Stadium is the premier athletics venue for British athletics and only days before it had hosted the annual AA Championships.
Just as in 2013, the Year 7 pupil retained his national titles in both the discus and the shot put.
In the discus he extended his own school record by over three metres with his best throw of 31.11ms.
He then sealed his double success by also winning the shot with a throw of 11.24m.
Jakobsen’s performances rank him as number one and two for these two events respectively on the powerof10.net website.
