BARNT Green kept their title charge rolling in the Birmingham and District League Premier with another impressive victory.

Saturday's five wicket win over Knowle and Dorridge means the Cherry Hill Road side are keeping the pressure on the division's pacesetters.

Victory lifted them to third and they are just 27 points behind leaders West Bromwich Dartmouth.

Their lofty league position is despite having four games abandoned this season because of rain, twice the number that the table toppers or second-placed Berkswell have had to put up with.

Captain Andrew Sutton said: "It's getting very tight at the top of the table.

"I think it's beginning to look like the top three might start to break away but there is a long way to go yet.

"Our games against the top two are away but they will be win or lose games near the end of the season.

"But it's also important we don't drop points against the teams below us, we've got to keep putting the pressure on them."

Sutton's bowlers made the difference as they restricted Knowle to 121 all out in 46 overs on their home ground.

Pace bowler Luke Radford took his first five-wicket haul for Green, conceding just 34 runs in ten overs.

Tom Burton (2-10) and Simon Mugava (2-16) also played very well as Knowle's batsmen struggled to cope.

It took green 28 overs to knock off the runs, making 127-5 in reply.

Burton (37), Nathan Newport (22), Radford (24) and Sam Cheshire (26no) got among the runs.

Sutton said: "Luke bowled with pace and aggression and it was good to see him get some wickets.

"But the team bowled and fielded well as a unit, Tom Burton took an important wickets and Simon Mugava's spin was effective.

"The performance was much like the others over the last few weeks, a very impressive display."

Green take on Walsall at home on Saturday (noon start).

Sutton added: "They are struggling but Walsall have some very good players so we won't take them lightly."
