DROITWICH Men completed the Summer League with an impressive 6-1 win at Stourport Veterans.

Matthew Lee hit a hat-trick, while Barry Williams, Joseph Neal and Alex Brewer also chipped in with one goal each.

The league table shows Spa fought hard in the second half of the season to move themselves up to eighth in a competitive league.

The men’s teams are now preparing for the 2014-15 West Midlands Division One.

Their campaign starts with an away trip to Whitchurch on Saturday, October 4 before Newtown at home a week later.

Droitwich then face Bloxwich away and Yardley at home.

November kicks off with an away trip to Kingswinford, followed by home ties against Pershore, Leamington, Old Wulfrunians and Barlaston at home.

In December, Spa travel to Market Drayton before rounding off the first half of the season against Oswestry at home.

Droitwich start 2015 after the winter break with home ties against Whitchurch and Bloxwich with Newtown sandwiched in between.

February commences with Yardley away and a homes tie against Kingswinford, followed by Pershore away and Leamington at home.

Droitwich complete their league fixtures by entertaining Old Wulfrunians, going to Barlaston, tackling Market Drayton at home and Oswestry away.

Captain Richard Woodward is hoping for an improved season.

He said: “It’s going to be an interesting season as the leagues have been restructured.

“Newtown finished second last season and so will be pushing for promotion.

“The core of the squad from last season has been retained which will give us a strong base to launch a push for promotion and improve on the seventh place finish.”

On Saturday, September 6 the club is holding an open day, which will feature a hockey tournament.
