TWO of Bromsgrove Tennis Club’s struggling sides were pulled further into trouble last week.
The Mixed B side suffered relegation to Division Five, despite a narrow win over Boughton B.
With three of the four matches being decided on tie-breaks it was one of the closest matches played all season.
The tie was evenly poised at 2-2 when Bromsgrove snatched victory by winning one more set.
Both pairs of Di Inchley with Voitek Niedzwiedz and Linda and John Casey had their chances, but a bigger win just eluded them.
It was a similar story for the Men’s C Team who are likely to be going back down to Division Five after promotion last year.
They travelled to Bewdley needing a good result.
A last minute withdrawal of one of the key team members meant it was always going to be tough and they went down 4-2.
Tim Wright with John Casey and Mark Blake with Trevor Errington each won a rubber, but the elusive third rubber to secure the much-needed points eluded them.
Last minute substitute Chris Hands paired up with Alex Willis and fought hard but went down in both rubbers.
