IMOGEN Sinclair led the way for Bromsgrove Tennis Club’s juniors at the County closed tournament.

The end of season County closed tournament sees the elite players from Hereford and Worcester clubs go head-to-head in age groups from eight and under to 18.

Sinclair, 13, won the girls’ U-16 singles and teamed up with Sophie Cornelius to take the U-16 girls’ doubles for Bromsgrove.

Equally impressive was Stuart Shannon, who tasted victory in the U-10s boys’ singles and doubles.

He also teamed up with Jim Round in the U-12 boys’ doubles to finish were runners-up.

Josie Ward also scored a great double taking both the U-8 and U-9 girls’ singles titles and showing she has a great future ahead.

It was an all-Bromsgrove final in the U-8 boys’ singles when Patrick Niedzviedz took the win against Isaac Bridge.

Other finalists who took the runners-up spot were Isabel O’Conner in the girls’ U-10, Aseena Pavlova in the girls’ U-12 and Lucy Simper in the U-18 competition.

Head Coach James Griffiths was delighted with the haul of silverware.

He said: “The results show the strength in depth we have at Bromsgrove.

“Many of the players joined as absolute beginners and it’s been great seeing them develop.

“The importance the club attaches to helping all players from beginners to these rising stars is one of the reasons we were awarded the Junior Club of the Year title.

“We are continuing to develop our programmes for players from as young as three years old. We offer indoor coaching during the Autumn at the Ryland Centre in addition to coaching at the club and I’m sure we’ll find more future stars.”
