Bromsgrove 50, Dudley Kingswinford 15

BROMSGROVE gained a comfortable win over old rivals Dudley Kingswinford at Finstall Park on Saturday.

The Finstall Park outfit were stronger all over the park against the other team relegated last season.

The home side appear to be finding their feet under the new coaching team and the new personnel are beginning to gel.

However, it was one of the old brigade who put the first points on the board after five minutes, James Lloyd-Jones made a typically aggressive run from about 25 metres brushing off several tackles score by the posts. Tom Biggs added the conversion.

DK's briefly got themselves into the match with a penalty on 10 minutes.

The rest of the half was all Town with three unanswered tries all of a very different type.

Kieron Dawson touched down after a break from Lloyd-Jones, before Phil Horton and Jamie Tsang both went over. Biggs converted two of the three as the Boars went into the break with a 26-3 lead.

Grove extended their lead shortly after half-time when, after several phases, Dawson got his second try.

During the next quarter the visitors played some much better rugby and scored two tries of their own which sandwiched a home score from Tom Hunt.

Bromsgrove managed to regain their superiority in the last 10 minutes with two long range tries, the first from Dawson for a well-deserved hat-trick and the last one a fortuitous interception from Ieuan Mustow who ran the length of the pitch to score leaving the home supporters well satisfied with the afternoon's work.

Bromsgrove away at Hinckley on Saturday.
