FAIRFIELD Villa are expecting a large contingent of players to be available for Saturday’s away clash against Chelmsley Town (2pm ko).

Joint boss Paul Oakes is hoping to have between 18 and 19 members of his squad available for the clash in the Midlands Football League Division Two.

They will hope to bounce back from Saturday’s 6-2 defeat at home to League One’s Heather St Johns in the Les James Cup on Saturday.

Villa were much depleted and could only muster a 13-man squad for a number of reasons.

The club have been affected by the absence of players, which has resulted in inconsistent results.

Paul Oakes said: “Being without players is part of modern football at our level.

“Obviously, they are more likely to be working on a Saturday and lads will also go away for weekends.

“We run a first team and reserve side and out of 64 players we only had a fraction of them available at the weekend for various different reasons.

“But it’s the same for everybody though, all the teams are affected.”
