DROITWICH Spa Ladies returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Old Halesonians last Saturday.

Old Hales opened the scoring against the run of play before Droitwich’s right forward Louise Warrilow levelled after converting some scrappy play in front of goal.

Droitwich played well during the second half with lengthy spells of good possession and accurate passing in worsening weather.

Hannah Trow capitalised on Spa’s pressure by converting a penalty corner. Warrilow wasn’t finished for the afternoon and furthered the visitors lead scoring her second of the match. Droitwich will travel to Kidderminster this weekend.

Droitwich Spa Veterans lost 6-2 at home to their Stourport counterparts.

Spa started the better and took the lead through a good finish from Barry Williams.

It took Stourport just a few minutes to hit back with a low finish in open play.

Before the half was over Stourport scored another two goals to leave the half time score 3-1, but this was despite the effort and work rate of the whole Spa team who hassled and harried all over the park.

In the second half, Droitwich began quicker as they created chances which Luke Wickes, Peter Gurr and Barry Williams were unlucky not to finish.

Spa’s second of the night came from a Pete Gurr finish to bring the score back to 3-2 before Stourport scored from two penalty corners and one from open play to leave a 6-2 final score.

Meanwhile, Droitwich Spa Men’s Thirds lost 8-3 away to Solihull Blossomfield.

Droitwich spent most of the first half being overran in midfield with Solihull showing an organised and attacking formation that saw them go into half-time 5-0 up.

The second half saw Droitwich regroup and change formation which brought them back into the game with two quality strikes from Liam Hine.

Solihull returned with three goals before Shaun Laight hit his fourth goal in three games.

Droitwich will now take on local rivals Redditch this Saturday.

A brace from David Purchase and strikes from Tommy Ross, Peter Gurr and Matthew Gurr gave Droitwich Spa Fathoms a 5-1 away win over Berkswell and Balsall Common.

In the West Midlands Premier, Bromsgrove suffered a 4-0 defeat to Market Drayton on Saturday.

They go to Stafford, who are directly below them in table, aiming to bounce back on Saturday.
