HOCKEY: Droitwich Ladies’ return to form was put on hold after they were edged out 3-2 by Kidderminster.

Spa’s rivals had opened the scoring against the run of play deep into the first half.

Droitwich’s calm approach and constant pressure on their opposition’s goal led to Sophie Blackmore converting some scrappy play on the goal-line to level the score just before half time.

Minutes into the second half the visitors were dealt a huge bow as midfielder Lucy Hine was taken out, in a strong but fair tackle. She could not continue and the hosts were reduced to 10 players.

Kidderminster edged ahead again, only for Mollie Cresswell to level the scores from a penalty corner.

With only minutes to go, Kidderminster came out on top after managing to deflect a weak cross into the net.

The seconds were shot down 5-2 by Worcester, with Lorna Davidson bagging a brace.

The Men’s seconds got the better of Pershore 4-2.

Pershore took the early lead but Droitwich didn’t sit back and soon levelled with a goal from Alex Colbourne.

The game remained even through out the first half, but Spa saw Liam Hine green carded after tempers flared.

Hine added another to his year’s tally with a well struck penalty corner, beating the keeper at the near post after 27 minutes.

Droitwich then extended the goal difference when Tommy Ross scored just before half-time from close range after a melee after 33 minutes.

In the second half, Adam James bagged a fourth for Spa but Pershore pulled a goal back while Hine and Adie Clifton were sin-binned.
