FAIRFIELD Villa’s hoodoo against bogey side Hampton Sports continued after they slipped to a 2-1 loss in the Midlands Football League Division Two on Saturday.

Connor Collins had fired the Recreation Ground outfit ahead only for Hampton to bag a deflected leveller.

The visitors then hit the woodwork twice before scoring the winning goal going ahead.

To make matters worse, Villa saw skipper Lewis Cosgrove dismissed for two yellow cards.

Joint-manager Paul Oakes said: “We made a very good start but full credit to Hampton, we were out worked and out fought.

“Individually I wouldn’t swap any of my players for Hampton’s but as a unit they are very good.

“Sometimes you have to put your hands up and say the better side won.”

Cosgrove is set to start his suspension in a fortnight but will miss Saturday’s Worcestershire Junior Cup quarter-final clash at Worcester Raiders (1.30pm ko).

Oakes said: “We’d love to win a cup this season but this is the tough draw in the competition.”

l Meanwhile, Droitwich Spa turn their attentions to the Worcester Junior Cup when they go to Powick Rangers on Saturday (1.30pm ko).

They will be looking to bounce back after losing 4-0 at high-flying Leicester in the Midlands Football League Division Two.
