BROMSGROVE Sporting manager Paul Smith believes Aaron Daniels has learned his lesson after the want-away hitman tried to manufacture a move from the club.

Smith has acted to remove Daniels from the Rouslers after it came to the light the gifted forward had been contacting other clubs seeking a transfer.

He looks set to join Stafford Rangers after the Bromsgrove boss took the drastic step of organising Daniels' trial at the Northern League Division One outfit for the sake of his squad's spirit.

"Aaron has been naive and gone about things the wrong way," said the manager.

"I would never stand a player from moving up al level, in fact I would encourage it and do everything in my power to make it happen.

"But he's not done things the right way. Aaron admits that he hasn't handled the situation as well as he could, and I felt it in the best interests of the club, himself and more importantly the remaining members of this tight knit squad to speed up his departure.

"I have nothing against Aaron and believe he is a good footballer and a nice lad, on the back of that I have since arranged a trial at Stafford Rangers for him. What is most important in situations like this is no one person is bigger than the club.

"At the moment I have Sam Wills, Chris Conway, Will Tibbetts, Danny Lennon, Sean Brain and Jozef Jakab so we are well stocked for strikers.

"However, if I feel we need more goals or another forward I have a big black book full of contacts I can use."

Smith was full of praise for his players after they were edged out 2-1 by Thurnby Nirvana in the FA Vase Third Round on Saturday.

The Leicestershire outfit were the toughest draw in the competition but Conway's goal was not enough.

"The result was bitterly disappointing but if you take a deeper look at the game there were a lot of positives," added Smith.

"I thought we edged it but Thurnby perhaps had that little bit of extra luck that you need.

"Of all the 12 sides we could have got, Thurnby were the hardest and to get them away from home made it even more difficult.

"Hopefully this is a springboard to go on another good run. Before Saturday we had been unbeaten in 12 games and I want us to go on another unbeaten run."

Bromsgrove, who were set to play Stourport Swifts in the Worcestershire Senior Urn last night, are sixth in the Midlands Division One with a host of games in hand on the top five.

They go to Nuneaton Grif this weekend (3pm ko) and entertain Southam next Tuesday (7.45pm ko).

Smith commented: "We're playing catching up in the league but I do believe we've got a great chance in the title race this season.

"We've got an absolutely huge game at Nuneaton Griff on Saturday."
