PAUL Smith has demanded a return to form for his Bromsgrove Sporting players after watching his side draw a blank against Pershore.

The Rouslers extended their unbeaten run in the Midlands Football Division One to 14 games but failed to find the back of the net in the league since August 2.

With leaders Highgate defeating Nuneaton Griff, second-placed Sporting now find themselves eight points behind but with a game in hand.

Smith said: "I saw this performance coming, we had struggled for 60 minutes against Pilkington and took our chances against Coventry Copsewood.

"But fair play to Pershore, they played with almost two banks of five and defended well and we couldn't break them down.

"We got frustrated and the crowd also got frustrated but the result is not the end of the world.

"We had won the last eight games in the league and our destiny is in our own hands.

"The players know that performance was not acceptable and we've got two big training sessions this week.

"I don't believe the players were complacent but it was not good enough."

Smith is also hoping to bolster his squad, with Joe Adams set to arrive from Alvechurch.

Meanwhile, Sporting had defeated Coventry Copsewood last Tuesday in the league 2-0 thanks to goals for Sean Brain and Chris Conway.

Sporting now go to mid-table Lichfield City on Saturday (3pm ko).

Smith said: "I always look a month ahead and target how many points I want from a game.

"I wanted three from Pershore and it was disappointing not to get them. I have targeted one point each from the games against Lichfield and Stafford but we'll see what happens.

"I am trying to freshen up the squad before Saturday and hopefully we'll get a few new faces in."
