FAIRFIELD Villa returned to winning ways as they defeated Worcester Raiders 5-0 to progress into the second round of the Smedley Crooke Memorial Challenge Cup.
Goals for Ellis Blakemore, Peter Jenvey and Lewis Cosgrove put the Recreation Ground outfit in control before a brace for super-sub Danny Wilkes ensured a healthy looking scoreline.
Villa will now face either Littletons or Bromsgrove Sporting in the second round in a game which has not had a date set.
Joint manager Paul Oakes said: “It was a very pleasing display.
“We had a bit of an issue last week but I couldn’t ask for more from the lads and their application and attitude was first class.
“Worcester were much-improved since the last time we have played them so it was a tough game.
“I was also delighted for Danny Wilkes, he spent three months in Australia and has been a bit in and out of the side when he got back.
“But he looked very good on Saturday.”
Meanwhile, striker Connor Collins made his Worcester City debut in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Aggborough.
The forward is registered to both Fairfield and their County rivals, who play in the Conference North.
Oakes added: “We were delighted to see Connor make his debut.”
Villa take on Droitwich Spa at home in the semi-finals of the Worcestershire Junior Cup (1.45pm ko).
Spa have won the last two encounters 3-1.
“I have a lot of admiration for the way that Mark Owen and Wayne Oliver have turned Spa around.
“If you look at results in recent weeks they are favourites.”
