CHADDESLEY Corbett notched up a record league win as they hammered Birmingham Barbarians 112-7 in the Midlands Division Five West (North).

Corbett ran in an eye-catching 18 tries, 11 of which were included to really put the hurt on their opponents, who are based in North Birmingham.

Louis Ellsmore filled his boots with four tries, while Oliver Jeynes bagged a hat-trick.

Captain James Swift was on hand for a brace of touch downs, while Phil Hiron, Sam Moore, George Green, James Brinkley, Russell Price, Phil Jordan and 50-year-old numbe eight Carl Booth also bagged one each on a fine day for rampant Corbett.

Ellsmore Nick White also put tucked away 11 conversions with a clinical display of finishing.

Swift said: "It was an amazing display by the team.

"We had supposed to play Birmingham at home on our vice presidents' day but they had to pull out because they could not field a team.

"They were very apologetic but we decided to go over there and record a really a big score."

The result is a big turnaround for Corbett, who had been struggling for players last season before a big summer recruitment drive reaped the benefits.

Corbett now face Worcester Wanderers at home in a friendly on Saturday and they tackle Hereford seconds on February 14.

They resume the league at home to leaders Church Stretton a week later.

In the Midlands Division Four West (North), Cleobury Mortimer got the better of Barton under Needwood 49-3.
