FAIRFIELD Villa have targeted a top six finish in the Midlands Division Two.

The Recreation Ground outfit are ninth in the table but have games in hand over all of the sides above them.

Villa are also still gunning for silverware and will face Inkberrow in the Worcestershire Junior Cup final on May 6 at the Victoria Ground.

Joint manager Paul Oakes said: “I think if you look at the performances and results this season we’d be disappointed not to finish in the top six.

“Coventry United are running away with the league, while Leicester Road, Barnt Green and Sutton are all vying for second.

“But if we can finish below them we have done well.

“With the cup final against Inkberrow, there is still much for the team to play for.

“Inkberrow have been a bit of a bogey side for us in recent years but we’d love to win the cup.”

With Saturday’s game at Kenilworth KH postponed because of a waterlogged pitch, Villa have a had free weekend ahead of their clash at home to Sutton United.

Pete Jenvey will miss out because of a one-match ban and Dan Wilkes will miss the rest of the season because he has returned to Australia for a holiday.

But Villa have signed striker Earl Jordan from Cadbury’s, who had previously played for Oakes during his time at Alvechurch’s youth team.

He said: “Sutton like to get the ball in the deck and play some good stuff, so it’s a game we are looking forward to.”
