ALVECHURCH manager Lee Knight could not hide his disappointment after he watched his side toil during Saturday's 0-0 against Shepshed Dynamo.

Church continued their improved defensive form as they kept a clean sheet in the Midlands Premier for the first time in 12 games.

But it was going forward which frustrated Knight, who is in charge until the end of the season, as they failed to test Dynamo's goalkeeper.

Alvechurch did not build on last week's excellent 2-1 win over Basford.

He said: "I was very disappointed and to be honest, it felt like a defeat.

"We didn't test their goalkeeper at all and they just had the one shot on target.

"We're not scoring enough goals but our record at the back is up there with the best of them.

"I was very happy with the way we defended, just like against Basford, we contained them very well.

"In training we're taking chances and scoring goals and it's a matter of transferring that into games.

"It's a matter of confidence and the players need to be braver."

Church welcome back Ben Markall and top scorer Gareth Evans, who missed the last two weeks with injury, back for Saturday's home game against Causeway United (3pm ko).

The Lye Meadow outfit, who are 14th in the table, are two places ahead of Causeway and are unbeaten in four league games.
