CAPTAIN Mark Evenson is keeping his feet on the ground after Bromsgrove maintained their perfect start to Birmingham League Division One.

The Boars recorded a fourth straight win to maintain the top spot as they saw off Moseley by five wickets at St Godwalds.

Bowing, first Will Tuffin was again on top of his game with a tight opening spell and the wicket of Andrew Umeed (3).

It was then the turn of the spin bowlers who took a grip of proceedings limiting scoring opportunities and taking key wickets when it counted.

Aadim Din (45) top scored but he fell to Ashley Newfield who went on to take 4-39 as Moseley ended up 186-8 off their 50 overs.

Jayden Levitt, who has been in a rich vein of form with Newfield, took over the run chase as his partner was out for a rare duck.

Despite losing a couple of other wickets he despatched the bowling to all corners and would not allow the bowlers to settle.

Levitt also found a solid partner in Tom Green (25) and they put on 70 runs, before completing being bowled out for a match-winning 49.

Tom Hill (23 no) completed the victory with 18 overs to spare as the Boars made 189-5.

Evenson said: "We always have a good record in the win or lose format, it's when we move to the more traditional points system we struggle.

"It's early days yet but it's good to have the points on the board.

"Jayden did what he did best, which is score runs but overall this was our best performance of the season."

Meanwhile, the second had an easy eight-wicket victory with George Cracknell scoring 60 against Dorridge.

Mike Bennison (69 no) starred for the thirds, who defeated Halesowen by eight wickets.
