CAPTAIN Andrew Sutton says Barnt Green will refocus their efforts following a heart-to-heart chat with the players after Saturday's five-wicket loss to Kenilworth Wardens.

Green's wait for a win stretched to over a month after a poor display in the field let them down.

Sutton had won the toss and opted to bat first and they made 274 all out in 54 overs.

Leading the charge was the in-form Ed Pollock who scored his second successive century with a well-struck 122 runs.

Sutton (37) and Matthew Lamb (31) also got among the runs, as Wardens bowlers Sitansu Kotak and Udit Talati took four wickets each.

Sutton made an early breakthrough when he had Ryan Panell dismissed for a duck but the hosts recovered 0-1 to make 112-2 when Arjun Bath (33) and Nick Seager (77) filled their boots.

Veteran Kotak also struck 80 runs, while Martin Donald (33) and Andrew Whitehall (30) also contributed as Kenilworth made 275-5 in the 54th over.

Sutton said: "I thought making 274 was a good effort, if we were doing that each week we'd win a lot more games than we'd lose.

"But unfortunately, we didn't bowl as well as we could do. We tried to bowl the magic ball instead of bowling six good balls and seeing how that worked.

"It was disappointing because for the first time in a while we had our strongest team out.

"We've had a chat after the game to discuss what's going on and where we want to finish.

"It's a young team but I do want players to join in the conversation and have their say."

Green are eighth in the Birmingham Premier and have a 30 point lead over the bottom teams.

They entertain Dorridge on Saturday (noon start).
