BROMSGROVE triathlete Sam Boswell returned from the European Triathlon champs with mixed feelings, narrowly missing out on a bronze medal and finishing fourth.

The tournament was held in Geneva and attracted the top athletes from the continent over the standard distance triathlon, all of who would have gone through their own qualification races and criteria.

Boswell qualified by winning the National championships the year before.

She said: "It's getting tougher and tougher to qualify for the GB team with so many strong athletes in the UK so it's always a privilege to wear the kit and get to the start line of any international races.

"I have been working crazy hours establishing my sports massage business so couldn't really dedicate the hours needed in training so I have to be pleased with fourth place but third was only 15 seconds away so very frustrating.

"I have a more flexible working pattern now so hope I can dedicate more time to my training ready for next years Europeans and my other races."

Boswell posted the second fasted run and third fastest bike spilt on the course which would normally stand her in good stead for a medal but her swim and transitions let her down however she is focused on improving these for next year.
