BARNT Green Under-11s secured double cup success in just a week.

On Sunday, September 13, the club's 11-a-side team clinched the U-11s County Cup Final where they defeated Ombersley in a thrilling match at New Road to lift the County Cup.

Barnt Green batted first and scored 82-5 off 20 overs, with Jack Warner (22) and Ben Whitton (21) top scoring and Fred Hanson (15) in good form.

Ombersley were chasing down the score in good time with Harry Vesty (20) playing fluently.

But they lost wickets at regular intervals in the process, with Barnt Green bowlers Jack Warner (4-11) and Tom Curran (3-20) among the wickets.

A vital 14 from Alex Terry pushed the score on to 76-9 but with just one run needed for victory, Green struck to seal the silverware.

Last Sunday, the U-11s' nine-a-side team got the better of Oldswinsford and Stourbridge CC in the county final at Droitwich.

Barnt Green batted first and scored an imposing 111-1 in 20 overs, with Charlie Yarwood (31), Isaac Hewetson and Archie Greaves-Hall (both 30) all making use of a decent batting wicket.

Warner then took 3-10 as Oldswinford were dismissed 24 runs short.

Manager Rob Warner said: “After a long season all the U11 squad have contributed to the team’s success.

With our U13 team reaching the ECB National Finals two years’ running and U15 and U17 sides also enjoying County success it is something the Club can be proud of. It is heartening to see the next crop of talented youngsters coming through.”
