BROMSGROVE head coach Dan Protherough is hoping to have number of players available for Saturday's National Midlands Division Three clash at Lichfield.

Ben Meadows and Tom Hardwicke are set to shake off injuries for trip to Staffordshire, while Chris Danks is expected to have recovered from the concussion he sustained three weeks ago.

The Boars will be aiming to bounce back from a 34-17 home loss to Hinckley, who are the division's early pacesetters.

Protherough said: "We've missed three or four players but I am hoping to get a few back for Saturday.

"We've got a reasonable squad and the guys who came in have done well.

"But Lichfield will be a very different type of opponent compared to Hinckley.

"They will be quick and we'll have to be on our guard."

Bromsgrove faced a Hinckley side who had started well after finishing runners-up last season.

Jon Critchlow was given an early opportunity to open the scoring but missed the penalty.

The hosts had been coping well with a powerful forward line until Kevin Salisbury went off with a calf injury and Hinckley's dominance begin the tell and the penalty count started to climb.

But the hosts took a 7-0 lead when Tom Hunt finished a fine passing move and Critchlow added the extras.

The away side responded well and penalty by Mark Lord got them back in the game.

Bromsgrove conceded a penalty try and Lord added the extras as Hinckley took a 10-7 lead.

A Critchlow penalty levelled the scores but an accurate long range kick by Jo Glover edged the away team into the lead again.

But two converted tries by Glover and Mitch Lamb ensured Bromsgrove fell 27-10 behind.

Dave Lewis kept his side in the game when he raced past three defenders to touch down under the posts.

Hope of fight back was snuffed by Hinckley's resilient play and Ben Avent added the final score to see off the home side.

Protherough added: "We did quite well but we gave Hinckley too man opportunities near our line."
