HEAD coach Rob Bray believes Droitwich’s performance are a better indicator of the team’s health than their lowly league position.

Spa are third from bottom in the Midlands Division Two West (South) after five games.

But while Droitwich have only won one match so far this season, Bray feels the performances have been much better.

Spa started slowly against Leamington, but put in a better display in the loss to Malvern.

They bagged their first win of the season against Nuneaton Old Edwards before defeats to Pinley and leaders Banbury.

Bray said: “I think we’re actually better than our league position suggests.

“We should have beaten Pinley instead of just getting a bonus points and the performances have been good.

“At our level of rugby it’s hard to get consistency because other factors come into play.

“You can have a good team but they also have work and family commitments.”

Droitwich go to Barkers Butts on Saturday and are expecting a tough physical battle.

“Barkers will try and dominate us but we’re going to be putting out a very strong pack so we’ll be a match for them.”

The firsts and seconds were set to play in a training game on Tuesday night while Dave Ingram is set to miss out after dislocating his shoulder.
