PAUL Smith has warned Bromsgrove Sporting they must improve if they are to beat Midlands Division One leaders Coventry United on Saturday.

The Rouslers have struggled for form in recent weeks, despite a late flurry of goals seeing off Pelsall Villa at the weekend.

They face a Coventry side boasting 13 wins and just one loss all season.

But Sporting will also be looking to reignite their title hopes after a testing few weeks.

While they have won their last four league games, they have suffered defeats to Dunkirk in the FA Cup and a 5-3 extra-time loss to Highgate in the League Cup in recent weeks.

Smith said: "Coventry will be a good indicator for where we are at the moment.

"But if we play like we did for 70 minutes against Pelsall we will lose.

"We had an impressive flurry near the end to win the game but we'll have to play well for 90 minutes.

"We tend to play better against the top sides so we've got a chance."

Smith has also been busy refreshing his strike force, with Joshua McKenzie having left the club after a disappointing haul of seven goals.

The former Redditch United man is wanted by Nuneaton Griff and was set to turn out for Sutton Coldfield against Romulus last night.

But Sporting have agreed to sign striker Kyle Turner from Atherstone, who is expected to debut against United this weekend (3pm ko).

He's score 13 goals so far this season but bagged 33 for Pilkington last season.

Smith said: "For some reason it has not happened for Josh and he felt he needed a change.

"I half agreed but he goes with our best wishes because he's a lovely lad.

"Kyle is a good young striker and a player I know well and he's been in great form so I am delighted to have got him."

Sporting were set to play Inkberrow in the Smedley Crooke Cup last night.
