PAUL Smith has called on Bromsgrove Sporting’s fans to come out in force for Saturday's crunch clash against fellow title rivals Leicester Road.

The Rouslers broke their home attendance record twice over Christmas with crowds of 562 and 674 against Studley and Pilkington respectively.

Sporting will be hoping to avenge their 5-1 defeat in Leicestershire and keep the pressure on Midlands Division One leaders Coventry United.

Smith said: “We’ve had absolutely huge crowds come out and watch us and I hope they stay with us.

“I would say we’re in really good form and there’s no other team I would rather watch in our division.

“So I hope the fans stick with us, we’re playing some good football.”

He added: “The defeat to Leicester Road was the joint worst result of my career, so it still rankles with me to be honest.

“We didn’t play that badly but we made four mistakes and were punished.”

“But we’re going well and I would back us to get the result.

“I win also open the gap between us and Leicester Road.”

Sporting were set to welcome back Jake Wilson and Sam Wills, who were set to miss the Worcestershire Senior Urn clash at Littleton.

Luke Dugmore was set to be suspended for Littleton but if that game is called off, he will miss the Leicester Road clash.

Meanwhile, Sporting were left with a free weekend after their top six clash at AFC Hinckley was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
