BROMSGROVE head coach Dan Protherough isn’t ready to push the panic button despite their poor run of results.

The Boars slipped to a disappointing 22-8 home loss to Lichfield last Saturday, a fifth defeat in the last seven games.

While Bromsgrove are definitely going through their toughest run of results so far in the National Midlands Division Three, Protherough believes his side will bounce back.

He said: “We’ve had some very tough games over the last few weeks, Peterborough, Hinckley and Syston were all hard matches. We’ve been missing some key men because of injuries but we’re starting to get them back.

“As I have said before, this is a very tough division and any team can beat anyone, but we’ve won more games than we have lost and we’ll start getting results soon.”

Bromsgrove were surprised as they lost to a solid Lichfield side, who grabbed the impetus from the start.

While the Staffordshire outfit had taken the lead, an Ed Spalding try and James Upton penalty had made it 10-8 to the visitors.

But a third try by Lichfield proved to be the game’s decisive moment.

Protherough added: “Lichfield seemed to have more energy in the backs than us and the result was disappointing.

“We need to get back to the performances in the first half of the season season, where we had lots of energy and were winning close games.”

In a boost, Jon Critchlow and Paul Norris both featured as substitutes after lengthy injury absences.

Protherough will assess their injuries in training for Saturday’s trip to Longton (2.15pm kick-off).

He is also hopeful there are more players to return from injury.
