AN EARLIER 6-0 midweek win for Bromsgrove Men’s C team over Cutnall Green A saw them take maximum points in their opening match of the season.

The squad of John Casey, Tim Wright, Voitek Niedzwiedz, Tim Roland, Pete Morris and Trevor Errington travelled to Wall Heath last Sunday for their Division Five contest, with Bromsgrove winning 4-2.

Casey and Wright, who playing at first pair, won both their contests after going a set down in each.

They showed real fighting spirit to come back and beat both the first and second pairs from Wall Heath.

Playing second pair Niedzwiedz and Errington quickly won their opening match, but lost to the opposition first pair in three close sets.

At third pair Morris and Roland lost their opening match in three sets, but easily beat their opposite pair.

Captain Casey said: “It was a good win in difficult conditions as the courts are affected by building work.

“I was pleased with the spirit shown by the whole team, who took the opposition all the way and made it hard for them to get any victories.”

The newly-formed Men’s summer F team played their first match against Boughton D, a team of Worcester University students.

It proved a baptism of fire against the unbeaten runaway leaders in Division Nine, whose athleticism and youthful exuberance proved too much for Bromsgrove Men's F as they went down 5-1.

At the start of the week, the Ladies B team made the short trip to Stourbridge and their 4-2 win made it two successes out of two in Division Two.
