MARK Corbett broke the under the 20 minute barrier to claim victory in Bromsgrove Olympique Cycling Club's 10 mile time trial which was staged around Salford Priors and Alcester.

There was a tremendous turnout for the event with 105 riders taking part, clearly attracted by the fast and dry racing conditions.

Rapid times were always on the cards and Corbett didn't disappoint, the Worcester St Johns rider producing a sub 20 time with 19mins 57secs.

There was a terrific scrap for second spot where Richard Bradley of Media Velo and Wyre Forest CC rider Stephen Vanes couldn't be parted, the pair sharing the same time of 20mins 10secs.

There was another excellent ride from Suzy Patience of Banbury Star CC who proved the fastest woman rider on the night with an excellent time of 23mins 9secs.

Second place went to Lucy Walters of Team Echelon Rotar who wasn't too far behind in 23mins 34secs.

Wyre Forest rider Andrew Convery proved the fastest veteran rider over 40 with a time of 21mins 24secs while Karl Moseley of Stourbridge Velo took the over 50 prize in a sparkling time of 21mins 12secs.

Terry Meecham of Ride Coventry won the over 60's prize in 23mins 28secs while Mick Ives of Team Jewson MI Racing was the over 70 winner with 26mins 42secs.

Mark Corbett's efforts led Worcester St Johns to the team prize with Wyre Forest second and Solihull CC third.

Bromsgrove Olympique also staged the second of their popular fortnightly time trials around the Salt Way, Himbleton and Bradley Green course.

The series runs until August and competition is already getting hotter with the weather!

Phil Hunt and Chris Morris of Team Jewson rode a superb 22mins 25secs on tandem, which proved the best of the night.

Worcester St Johns rider Phil Whiteley rode the best solo time in 23mins 33secs while Gareth James was the quickest Bromsgrove Olympique rider with 25mins 55secs with veteran Adrian Clifton close on his heels in 26mins 44secs.
