MEADOW Park U14s ended a long and hard season by deservedly picking up the Worcestershire FA County Youth Development League Cup following a hard fought 1-0 win over Newtown Sports.

The Bromsgrove boys controlled the opening exchanges and took the lead with a wonder-strike from Terrel Jeffers.

The team's resolve was tested after a mammoth season, which their 15-strong squad was carrying no fewer than six injured players.

Park also suffered a setback when midfield dynamo Harri Genner left the field on 18 minutes with a badly sprained ankle.

Despite the odds, Park dug deep and showed tremendous heart, hanging on at times but effectively stifling the Newtown attacks for skipper Joe Green to lift the trophy for the second year running.

The team are looking for players that can add to an already talented squad that finished in the top half of the Central Warwickshire Youth Football League Premier Division as well as also reaching the Worcestershire FA County Cup Final on a Sunday.

Anyone interested school year nine, contact Phil Green on 07934 440249 or email philkgreen@sky.com to arrange a trial or attend training.

Meanwhile, after a slow start to the season the U13s turned things around with seven league wins in a row to finish the season in third place.

On top of that the boys were entered into the Kempsey Colts FC tournament which they also won.

Captain Luke Harding had more reasons to celebrate after being offered a place at Kidderminster Harriers next season.
