BARNT Green skipper Andrew Sutton believes his side can stop Birmingham League Premier leaders Wolverhampton in their tracks.

The Cherry Hill Road side face a testing trip to the Black Country outfit on Saturday (noon start) to play a side who have yet to lose a game.

Wolverhampton took advantage of Green’s home clash against previous table-toppers Ombersley being rained off to move to the summit.

Green are set to welcome back Tom Banton for the clash, while Warwickshire’s Josh Poysden may also be available depending on if the County side need him.

They had been in decent form until a fortnight ago when they suffered a surprise loss to Kidderminster, while this week’s abandonment because of a heavily waterlogged pitch also deepened their frustration.

But Sutton is sure that the team have got that loss out of their system, particularly as the Wyre Forest side have picked up form.

He said: “We were keen to bounce back from our loss to Kidderminster and I know Ombersley wanted to build on their good form, so both sides were disappointed not to have played.

“It rained very heavily and there was too much water, our groundsman didn’t really get a chance to work on the pitch and there was also lot of mud.

“We’ve got a very tough game against Wolverhampton coming up, it’s going to be a tough game because they are in great form.

“The defeat to Kidderminster has been forgotten, they have actually continued to pick up but we’ve put that loss behind us.

“This is an important game because it’s an opportunity to get a march on some of the sides around us.”

Meanwhile, the seconds won by five wickets at Ombersley.

The visitors won the toss and then bowled out the home team for 102, with Gus McKay starring with 7-38.

Matt Lamb then top scored with 46 not out as Green made 105-5.
