BARNT Green skipper Andy Sutton has promised there will be no let up from his side for the final two fixtures.

Walsall’s six-wicket win over West Bromwich Dartmouth sentenced Walmley to relegation along with Leamington Spa, which preserved Barnt Green’s Birmingham League Premier status.

But Sutton insisted: “We want to finish as high as we can while certain players have set themselves personal milestones to chase.”

Sutton himself remains in the hunt to become the leading wicket-taker, while Matt Lamb and Ed Pollock will be looking to pile on the runs.

Sutton currently sits fifth in the bowling stakes with 33 wickets, while Kenilworth Wardens’ Brinder Phagura leads the way on 38.

Lamb is also fifth in the batting ranks on 693 runs, but unlikely to topple leader Wasim Jaffer who is close to the 1,000-run mark.

Sutton said: “ Matt has been in superb form for us this season and he’s also played well for Warwickshire Seconds.”

Barnt Green are unlikely to see seam bowlers Luke Radford and Lee Tyrell for the remainder of the season as both are sidelined with injury, leaving Sutton as the only fit seamer available to face Leamington Spa and then Kenilworth Wardens.

The Green will be missing leg-spinner Josh Poysden for the game with Wardens as he is almost certain to be named in Warwickshire’s squad for the Royal London Cup final on September 17.
