HEREFORDSHIRE and Worcestershire Lawn Tennis Association announced the local heroes honoured as part of the Aegon British Tennis Awards.
Neil Bates, of Droitwich Tennis Club, was named the volunteer of the year for Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
Droitwich Tennis Club and St Peter’s First School, Droitwich Spa, are celebrating being declared the best venues in the county for tennis, based on criteria such as coaching, opportunities to play and competition.
They are in the running to get a national award, which could see them collect a £5,000 facility grant.
Tony Ravenscroft, of Redditch’s HDA Club, was made coach of the year.
The awards are a joint initiative between the LTA, Tennis Foundation, Aegon and 40 associations, including Herefordshire and Worcestershire LTA.
They recognise and champion the people who deliver tennis in communities across Great Britain.
