UNHAPPY Bromsgrove Sporting boss Paul Smith apologised to the supporters following his side's 1-1 draw with struggling Stafford Town this week.

Smith branded Sporting's display as unacceptable and said: "It lacked passion, desire, work-rate and commitment - all the ingredients which I instil into my sides and I can't understand why our performance lacked all of these things.

"We were awful and it's a situation I won't tolerate. It has to be one of our worst performances since I've been in charge at Bromsgrove.

"I can only apologise to the 500 plus supporters who had to watch such an abject performance.

"I've told the players what I think and they know how disappointed I am with them.

"Bromsgrove Sporting is a great club with an unbelievable fan base.

"My players need to buck themselves up and understand that. I'm going for the title here and it's up to the players to decide whether they are coming with me or not.

"Despite all this, we didn't lose the game but it's one we should have put to bed by half time but we missed that many chances.

"I shall be looking for a big reaction in training this week and at next Saturday's game against Heath Hayes.

"The lack of work-rate and intensity simply wasn't good enough and I will be making changes. I'm not happy and the criticism is fully deserved."

Smith revealed he is hoping to increase his strike-force this week ahead of the Heath Hayes game.

He confirmed: "I've been speaking with four strikers in total and I intend to sign a couple of them. We're creating plenty of chances but not taking them. That has to improve."
