BROMSGROVE lost their bottom of the table shoot-out with Salisbury 42-22 and now look resigned to relegation from National League 3 South West.

That was after Bromsgrove had led 22-14 at the break before letting slip in the second half.

Head coach Dan Protherough believes the game turned on an incident just before half time when No.8 Ed Garbett was the victim of bad tackle which left him concussed.

Protherough said: "Ed was having a great game at the time. The referee should have shown a red card but instead the culprit escaped with yellow and I think that went onto have a big bearing on the game."

Bromsgrove were well placed at the time with left wing Josh Holt supplying a couple of tries while the trusty boot of Jon Critchlow provided the remaining points.

Protherough added: "We had further chances to add points in the second half but panicked a bit and kicked for position when we should have been patient and gone for the posts.

"However, I don't think the outcome of this game makes too much difference.

"If you were to offer the club another season in the South West Division or Midlands One West, we'd take Midlands One West every time.

"The travelling is too much for amateur players and has put people off joining us."

Bromsgrove have no fixture this Saturday.
